Report: Ministry sees yuan, dirham as euro, US dollar replacements
MOSCOW, Sep 8 (PRIME) -- The Russian Finance Ministry sees the Chinese yuan as the key alternative to the euro and the U.S. dollar that became toxic, while the banks are also considering using the United Arab Emirates' (UAE's) dirham, Deputy Minister Alexei Moiseyev told newswire RBC on Thursday.
"The currency everyone is looking at is, of course, yuan, because the market is big there, the rate is stable, at least to the U.S. dollar… The dirham and several smaller markets' currencies are being considered as well," the official said.
He also said that the use of the India's rupees is unreasonable because of currency controls in the country.
